I want to buy a desk top for home use. It doesn’t have to be fancy but I do need it to be reliable and reasonably priced. I need it for web browsing music and videos and other regular uses. What should I look for when I go to the store? And where can i get the best deal ?

use a wireless connection like the connection for a laptop so I can be connected to the internet with out a phone line. Is there any special equipment I have to buy to make this happen.

At home we have a dell ex computer. We have our internet with a cord, thats called dsl connection right?.I dont know much about computers oka.Well im planning on buying a toshiba labtop.I want wirless internet for my labtop when i get it.Wold i just have to buy a router and connect it to my dsl or what/how does that work/ would i have to pay extra money or is buying the router all i would have to pay for?If u can just connect a router to the dsl cable would that make my home desk top computer and labtop slower because my home desk top is slow as it is?

I will soon be working from home and need to buy a computer (it can be either a desktop or a laptop, it doesn’t matter). If I get a desk top, I want a package that has everything included. Not only will it be my home office computer, it will also hold my music, pictures and I will taking internet courses for college. I have looked at Best Buy and others. Basically I am wondering if there is this awesome computer site that has lower prices that I am missing. Any help is appreciated!

I had a saved word document that I’ve been working on for a long time on my desk top at home.
I had some work done at the work computer and saved it on my USB drive and thought I can put them together at home today. when I dragged the document out from my USB to my desk top, it asked me if I want to save and replacement as an existing document under the same name is already on my desk top, without thinking much I clicked yes! Then I realized that I have replaced the document on my desk top with this USB version and lost all my data that I’ve been working on for months saved on my home computer desk top!!
I’ve tried everything and scan the whole computer trying to recover it but with no success, is there anyway I can recover this document at all??

I’ve been using a old computer given to me by a friend ,but it is time to get something that is not so dated.please give me recommendations for a desk top or notebook that has the recent functionality that you would need for internet,movie playing and thing to that effect. within reason for price

I would appreciate any advice or input you all can give me on how to link my laptop and desk top together. I am so lost in it all I don’t know if its networking I need to learn about or something called remote access!

what I am needing to accomplish is to be able to access my desktop home computer and all it holds from my laptop where ever I may be that I don’t have direct access to the home computer.

With my luck this probably isn’t even possible and it just wishful thinking on my part but Im not giving up yet. I may not be a wireless genius but I would swear that this is not just possible but pretty common practice as well. Pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeease help. LOL

Kidding aside, I don’t think its something that you all can sit down and type out for me and if it is it must be way more than anyone wants to get involved with and I don’t blame you. What I am hoping is that maybe someone can direct me to a tutorial (free one please) online that will get me thru it or a customer service number from some company that can walk me thru it. Any info is better than where I am with it at this point.

oh, one more thing. I also need to know how to be able to print something from my laptop wirelessly to the same printer that is hooked to my home desk top. I was told this was simple but I just am clueless to this kind of thing!

I want to spend about $600 for a home computer. I do a lot of emailing and a lot of work with pictures and music. Which brand will be the best for my situation?

I am runing home ver. windows xp. I have a 512 megabyte memory stick used in usb2 port. I used to be able to turn it off with an icon in the bottom right corner of my desk top. Now the icon is gone and i have to turn computer off to remove it safely. What happened to my icon?
I forgot to mention, the icon to turn it of is not hidden, its gone.
